The state or quality of being dedicated. Maintaining a personal mechanism forged in the hard work of supporting excellence. We are “trusted servants” that nurture this dedication through our willingness to serve God for the greater good of all people. This commitment requires all of our full attention and all of the grace that we can summon to support those in our recovery community. We continue to seek a well-rounded, steadfast and unique ability to serve above selfishness and to preserve in the nature of building our brothers and sisters up. The Bible declares, “Love the Lord with all of your heart and with all of your soul and with all of your strength”. This is the same declaration that we impress upon our commitment to flourish the deeds we set upon.
The brothers and sisters that surround us all have a common purpose; to maintain a non-negotiable, constant standard in our pursuit to serve God and others. We prioritize our commitment on a community level. The Bible tells us that “Jesus commands people to make disciples of all nations and teaches them to follow His commands; to be ready to spread His word at any time.” We share Hope. We share Strength. We relate our Experiences on all levels and make them relative to all that we involve in our lives. This environment that we strive to achieve is one where all of God’s children are welcome. There is a “way” for the alcoholic. There are “means” for the addict. The commonality of our recovery community is to include everyone when we “prepare the table and when our cup runs over” We are the outstretched hands and feet of God’s Word.
We can’t keep our true self hidden forever; before long, we will be exposed. We can’t hide behind a mask forever; sooner or later the mask will slip and your true face will be known. Jesus says that it is not enough to say that you are real, you should be able to see it. Being real….is being honest. We have to be honest with our feelings, struggles, sins and questions. Fully conceding to our innermost selves, all the nature of our hearts. Real in the service of others. Real in the service of God.
